Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

Awhile is an iOS and Android application published by ARCKONE SRL (Tournai, Belgium). This policy explains what data Awhile collects, how it is used, and what rights you have. The short answer: almost no personal data is collected. A small set of anonymous usage events leaves your device so we can improve the app, and you can switch that off in the app at any time.

1. Data Awhile does NOT collect

Awhile does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of the following:

Awhile does not use any advertising network, cross-app tracking, or fingerprinting library.

2. Data stored on your device

The following information is stored locally on your phone and never transmitted to ARCKONE SRL or any third party:

3. Anonymous analytics and error reporting

Awhile uses PostHog (EU-hosted at eu.posthog.com, acting as our data processor) to collect a small set of anonymous events that help us understand which features are used and to detect bugs.

What we send: event names with a few technical properties (app version, OS version, device model, locale, premium status), an anonymous device-scoped identifier generated locally on first launch, and stack traces when the app encounters an unexpected error.

What we never send: your IP address (discarded by PostHog EU before storage), your Instagram username or any content from the WebView, personal identifiers, email, name, advertising ID, cross-app trackers, or cookies.

You can disable analytics at any time in Settings > Privacy in the app. The choice is persisted on your device and no further events will be sent.

4. Instagram and your data controller

When you log into Instagram inside Awhile, you are using a WebView that loads instagram.com directly with your own credentials. Instagram receives the same information from Awhile as it would from any mobile browser: your IP address, session cookies, and the requests you make. Awhile does not modify, intercept, store, or forward that data.

For all data exchanged between your device and Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc. (and its subsidiaries Instagram LLC and Facebook Ireland Ltd) is the data controller within the meaning of Article 4(7) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Meta’s Instagram Privacy Policy governs anything you do on instagram.com.

ARCKONE SRL is the data controller only for the very limited data described in sections 2, 3 and 5 of this policy (anonymous analytics, purchase entitlement state, and the obfuscated selector list described in section 7).

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Premium can be bought as a one-time Lifetime purchase or as a monthly auto-renewable subscription with a 3-day free trial. Payment is processed entirely by Apple (StoreKit) on iOS or Google Play Billing on Android. RevenueCat, Inc. acts as our processor to validate purchases and tell the app whether you currently hold the Premium entitlement, including whether you are in a free trial and when a subscription renews or expires. Awhile receives only this entitlement and subscription-status information; it never receives or stores your name, card number, or any payment credentials, and there is no Awhile payment server. Your anonymous, device-scoped premium status (active or inactive) is included as a property in the anonymous analytics events described in section 3, so we can measure feature usage; it is not linked to your identity.

6. Sub-processors

Awhile relies on the following processors strictly to operate the service. None receives identifying information about you from Awhile itself:

Meta Platforms, Inc. is not a sub-processor of ARCKONE SRL: no personal data flows from Awhile to Meta. Any data exchanged with Instagram is exchanged directly between your device and Meta, under Meta’s own privacy policy.

7. Filter updates

Awhile fetches an obfuscated list of CSS selectors from a public GitHub Gist at launch. This request contains no identifiers. The only information the hosting server sees is a standard HTTPS request with a rotating anonymous IP address (batched through the iOS or Android network stack).

8. Children

Awhile is not directed at children under 13. Per the Belgian law of 30 July 2018 (art. 7) and Article 8 GDPR, the digital age of consent in Belgium is 13. If you are below that age, do not use Awhile without verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian. Instagram itself requires users to be at least 13.

9. Your rights

Because no personal data is collected by ARCKONE SRL, there is nothing for you to access, rectify, export, or delete from a server. To erase everything Awhile stores locally, uninstall the app from your phone. Your rights under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority) are nonetheless fully available at hello@awhile.app.

The competent supervisory authority for ARCKONE SRL is the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.

10. Independence and trademark notice

Awhile is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or operated by Meta Platforms, Inc., Instagram LLC, Apple Inc., or Google LLC. See the Legal notice for the complete trademark and independence statement.
