Chronological does not mean unfiltered by Awhile
Instagram supplies the posts and the Following view. Awhile supplies the route and the surrounding filters. It does not copy posts, create a separate feed database or decide the order itself.
That boundary keeps the claim precise: Following Only takes you to Instagram’s chronological Following surface when it is available. It does not promise that every detail of ranking or availability will remain unchanged forever.
Following Only versus hiding the feed
The free Feed filter removes the algorithmic home feed. It is the right choice when you do not want a replacement feed at all. Following Only is for people who still want posts, but only from accounts they chose and in the chronological view Instagram provides.
You can combine Following Only with the Reels and Explore filters. DMs and profiles stay available through Awhile’s browser, while account search sits behind the same tab as Explore, so leave that filter off if you still search.
When this setup works best
It suits photographers following peers, local businesses monitoring partners, clubs checking member updates, and anyone whose problem is recommendation drift rather than posts themselves.
If opening any feed leads to overuse, Messages Only is the stricter option. A chronological feed changes selection and order, but it does not create a hard stopping point.

Select the mode in Awhile’s filter controls for the Instagram account you are using.

Those free filters reduce the routes from chosen posts back into recommendations.

Questions about the chronological feed
Does Awhile create its own Instagram feed?
No. It routes to Instagram’s own Following view and applies local interface filters around it.
Is Following Only free?
No. It is a Premium mode. The regular Feed, Reels, Explore and Stories filters are free.
Does chronological order stop doomscrolling by itself?
Not necessarily. It removes recommendation ranking from this route, but a long chronological feed can still take time. Use filters and reminders according to your own pattern.
